Hi! I've just graduated from UCL where I studied English Literature and Language. I have experience teaching students ranging from 4-18 years old so regardless of the students' point of study, I am able to adapt to make the lessons engaging as well as productive. I will provide a clear structure to the lessons to make sure no time is wasted on deciding where to start (which is often the hardest part when faced with a large comprehension task). I hope to guide my students into incorporating their own creative writing style into the academic rubric that is asked of them. Given my proximity to my own studies, I am very conscious of what assessments are specifically asking of students; with my guidance, they will be able to maximise their own potential creatively as well as academically. Most importantly, I want to get to know my students and build a friendly relationship with them because enjoyment in learning is the path to top marks! I swear by this, if it is a little cliche...
I also have experience teaching drama and dance, which has trained me to use practical methods to engage the students, rather than just talking at them. I want my lessons to contrast the experience children have in the classroom with a 1:30 ratio. Tutoring is unique due to the direct attention it gives the child.
