I am a passionate and experienced languages teacher and linguist. I use a variety of techniques to engage and progress students. Usually, the lesson will start with some warm-up retrieval of prior learning to recall and further embed knowledge. Then, dependent on the goals of the learner, I design bespoke lessons to focus on the goals of the learner or specific skills such as speaking, listening, reading or writing. New vocabulary learning will often be taught alongside a grammar point to allow the student to manipulate language with autonomy to express what they want to say. I use a variety of games (Noughts and crosses, role play, memory game, Kim's game) and digital resources (video, audio) to make the language practice enjoyable. I use or adapt authentic resources to bring the cultural aspect of language learning to life whilst making it accessible and last but not least, I will provide specific and helpful feedback so that the learner is clear of their strengths and areas for development. I monitor progress regularly to check we're on track to achieve the grades you want (if that is your particular aim) or I can just build confidence to help you improve your communication and written skills in French, Spanish or German.
