I am a French native speaker and a UK-qualified secondary teacher with over 10 years of experience working as a Modern Foreign Languages teacher, and more recently as Head of Foreign Languages, in state and independent schools in the North East of England.
I was educated in the southeast of France and went to university in Chambery, where I obtained the equivalent of a B.A. in English. I then obtained another degree in translation and worked as a freelance translator for a few years.
After a quick spell in Prague, Czech Republic, I moved to the North of England and started my Post Graduate Certificate in Education PGCE). I specialised in secondary school Modern Foreign Languages (MFL).
Since graduating, I have taught French and Spanish to adults, teenagers and children in educational settings and through tutoring, both face-to-face and online.
I like to embrace new technologies to enhance my teaching and I have successfully delivered online learning through the Google for Education Suite during the pandemic. I provide a lot of resources, in printed or digital format to help my students achieve their full potential.
I have also been an examiner for AQA GCSE French (writing ) and Pearson GCSE French (reading) for over five years.
I can provide testimonials received from my private tutees (teenagers and adults).
Whether you are looking for conversational classes, help with GCSE/A-Level courses or to learn for work or enjoyment purposes, do get in touch as I would gladly help you. Although I would prefer to teach online, I can travel to your home or work place in the Thirsk and Northallerton area. If you live further afield in North Yorkshire, I would have to charge extra to cover time and fuel costs.

Sandrine Cook has taught both my boys from an early age when at prep school and then tutored them privately in the holidays up to GCSE level. Sandrine is a fabulous French tutor, who is very knowledgeable about the requirements from different exam boards and has an amazing amount of useful resources to help the boys develop their French to a higher level. Sandrine was especially helpful in preparing my boys for their speaking exams as being a native French person she could help enormously with their vocabulary, language and improve their accents. Sandrine prepares well in advance of lessons and liaises with me as to the specific topics the boys would like or need to improve upon, helping build on further what they have learnt at school. Outstanding, Confidence Giving, Motivational, Patient. That's Sandrine! Love my French Lessons!!! I have loved learning French with Sandrine over the past few years and always look forward to her lessons. One-to-one lessons are definitely the way to go. Sandrine is an outstanding tutor who is inspiring, motivational, and very patient. She offers an abundance of different learning suggestions and materials to support my french learning and I never get bored. My confidence has massively improved (which was a bit of an issue for me). My french has improved so much and I feel very lucky to have Sandrine as my tutor. Thank you so much Sandrine! Caroline Hodgson from The White Horse Beauty Room in Husthwaite
