Samuel Potts

Hello, I am Sam. I am predominantly a portrait painter with acrylic on canvas as my standard medium.
I have trained at Leeds College of Art- gaining a BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies before completing a BA in Fine Art (Painting) at Norwich University of the Arts. Finally I was awarded my Masters in Fine Arts at York St John University.

I am interested in working with painters and drawers of all levels in all mediums. I specialise in trying to help in raising a persons confidence in their work, allowing them to be bold with materials and develop constructive criticism of their practice. I am interested in materials and how best to use them based on my own education, experiences and ongoing portfolio. My tutorials would effectively be an active discussion on the work we are both making and open critique if this is helpful both ways! Equally it could be a person wanting to start making art from scratch with no prior knowledge or experience. Someone could be looking to chat to a fellow professional on how to push their work to the next level or simply wanting to get started creatively and therapeutically. I want to engage with a student, get to know them and their work (if applicable), where and how their artistic journey began and where they are wanting to be.
I have exhibited regularly over recent years and now mainly work to commission, often in portraiture.
