Lessons will include a variety of different formats whereby content will be gone over in a clear and methodical manner ensuring weaker areas are addressed. Practice questions targeting different contexts will also be a large part of the lessons to ensure that the content is actively recalled under timed conditions and pressure to ensure preparation for final exams too. Depending on students personal style of learning, techniques such as mnemonic devices, diagrams, acronyms, flashcards, practice past papers and spaced repetition will be used to ensure that each lesson is tailored to each students styles to maximise effectiveness. I think it is important to create a productive but encouraging environment whereby the pacing of the lesson will be wholly dependent on the students relative understanding of the content. Whilst it is important to cover all necessary aspects of a certain subject area, it is more important to ensure the student does not feel as though they are only getting a surface level understanding and that they can feel confident in their understanding at the end of the lesson. I feel as though my experience through not only IB biology (and other subjects) but also learning self study techniques through my first 2 years of university of undergraduate Biochemistry have allowed me to trial different methods and see what works for me whilst also learning how differently other people learn to me leading me to appreciate other personal learning styles. I will ensure to learn how different students prefer to learn and make sure to tailor each lesson individually to make the learning enjoyable and effective.
