Experience:

I am an experienced Mandarin Language Teacher based in London, UK, with five years of combined teaching experience (both in-person and online) for Key Stages 2–4 students, including one year of full-time teaching with former multilingual teaching specialist Dragons Teaching, delivering both online and in-person sessions. I have experience designing 40 tailored lesson plans across eight London schools, with an average class size of 25 students. I also produced performance reports for over 100 students, ensuring timely and accurate academic tracking and effective collaboration with parents.

Following the completion of a school-based teaching programme, I was invited by students and their parents to continue providing private tuition. This experience demonstrated my ability to build strong rapport with students, deliver effective teaching, and gain learners' trust. Throughout my teaching journey, I have thrived on building trusting relationships with students across both primary and secondary phases, contributing to their wellbeing and engagement through sensitive pastoral support, as well as sustained learning outcomes.

Teaching Methods:

To encourage children to enjoy learning Mandarin Chinese, I use a series of three books (PDFs available), each containing ten chapters. Each chapter introduces new key topics, while language learned in previous books is regularly revised and reinforced. Each book contains key vocabulary, sentence structures, and a wide variety of games to make learning Chinese enjoyable and engaging.

Children are encouraged to practise writing Chinese characters using clear and spacious character-writing grids, following step-by-step teaching instructions. Each chapter provides opportunities for children to develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
