Art is a wholly subjective and personal subject that teachers can’t always cater to 100%. When working with students one on one I can follow their interests and creative desires alongside them in order to create work that they like, and help present it in a way that also gets them the marks they want. I spent a lot time in my art GCSE and ALevel unsure of what I was supposed to be doing and how much, I taught myself a lot of techniques that helped me to research, find solutions out of creative block, write essays and create in a more efficient way. My lessons are based around the students progress, sometimes focusing on improving skills like drawing or crafting and sometimes doing research together and learning art history or techniques. I will help the student not only critically look at other practitioners work but their own and gain the skill of Creative self reflection. Because I am also a working creative I can try things alongside the student, as an example for them and as a point of reference for me to gauge how it should be presented to their audience. I have access to many resources: artist books and websites, where to source supplies and inspiration, and of course my own personal experience in many different medias If you want to see my work more casually my instagram is a log of the things I am currently working on: @samsmediums I am based in Leeds but I am open to remote learning as well as in person.
