I believe that every pupil learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to their individual needs and goals. I like to make lessons interactive and supportive, giving pupils plenty of opportunities to ask questions, practise their skills and build confidence.
Lessons can include working through difficult topics, developing reading and comprehension skills, improving essay writing, practising exam-style questions and strengthening exam technique. I will also review pupils’ previous work to identify areas for improvement and track their progress over time.
Having experience tutoring both primary and secondary pupils, including high-functioning SEN pupils at GCSE level, I understand the importance of patience and adapting my teaching style to suit each individual pupil. My goal is not only to help pupils achieve better grades, but also to help them become more confident and independent learners.
I also encourage pupils to take an active role in their learning by asking questions and explaining their thought processes. This allows me to identify any misunderstandings and address them before moving on. I can provide additional practice where needed and revisit topics regularly to ensure that knowledge is retained. I understand that some pupils may lack confidence in English, particularly when approaching exams, so I aim to create a positive environment where they feel comfortable learning at their own pace. I want every lesson to leave pupils feeling that they have made progress and have a clearer understanding of what they are working towards.
I also welcome feedback from students and parents to ensure lessons remain effective and engaging.
