Hello, my name is Ryoki. I am a native Japanese speaker and I have a PhD in Mathematics.
I offer mathematics lessons for students who would like clear, careful explanations in Japanese, or in simple conversational English. My main strength is helping students understand mathematical ideas step by step, especially when they find school or university explanations too fast, too abstract, or difficult to follow.
I can help with algebra, calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, numerical analysis, homework support, and university-level mathematics. I can also support GCSE Maths, A-level Maths, and exam preparation if students provide their school materials, textbook exercises, or past-paper questions.
My teaching style is calm, patient, and structured. In each lesson, I usually start by checking what the student already understands, then I explain the key idea in simple words, work through examples together, and finally help the student solve similar problems independently. I try to avoid simply giving answers; instead, I focus on building real understanding and confidence.
Lessons can be taught in Japanese, simple English, or a mixture of both. I am especially happy to support Japanese-speaking students who are studying mathematics in English, international students who need extra explanation, and learners who feel more comfortable asking questions in Japanese.
In addition to mathematics, I can also teach Japanese using simple English or easy Japanese.
Lessons are available online, and I may also be able to teach in person in Newcastle upon Tyne.
