My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s academic level, goals, and learning style. At the start of our work together, I take time to understand your course requirements, assessment criteria, strengths, and areas for development, so that sessions are focused and purposeful.
Lessons typically combine clear explanation of psychology concepts, guided discussion, and practical application. For subject content, this may include breaking down theories and research findings, clarifying difficult material, and developing critical evaluation skills. For coursework-focused sessions, we work directly on essay planning, argument structure, qualitative analysis, or dissertation preparation, always in line with university marking standards.
I place strong emphasis on academic writing and study skills, including how to read academic papers efficiently, structure high-quality essays, use evidence effectively, and reference accurately. For qualitative research support, lessons may cover research design, interview and focus group methods such as thematic analysis, and making sense of qualitative data in a clear and academically rigorous way.
Drawing on my experience as a university marker and teaching fellow, I provide detailed, constructive feedback and explain how work is assessed, helping students understand what examiners are looking for and how to improve grades. I also integrate professional development and employability skills where relevant, such as reflective writing, CV and personal statement support, and preparation for postgraduate study or psychology-related careers.
My teaching style is calm, encouraging, and professional. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. Lessons are interactive rather than lecture-based, and I adapt pacing and depth to suit each individual.
Overall, my goal is to help students not only perform better academically, but to develop the independence, confidence, and transferable skills needed for long-term success.
