Hello, I'm Ruth, a native British English teacher with many years' experience teaching adults and young adults, as well as training English language teachers.

I specialise in preparing students for internationally recognised English examinations, including IELTS (Academic and General Training) and Cambridge English qualifications (B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency). Whether you're preparing for university, professional registration, immigration or career advancement, I'll help you develop the skills, confidence and exam techniques you need to succeed.
I also teach General and Professional English, with lessons tailored to your individual goals. Whether you want to improve your speaking, writing, pronunciation, grammar or vocabulary, every lesson is carefully planned to help you make steady, measurable progress.

Having lived and worked in 11 countries, I bring first-hand experience of different cultures, languages and communication styles to my teaching. This international background enables me to build strong relationships with students from diverse backgrounds and adapt my teaching to different learning styles. I now live in Maceio, in Brazil, which has also given me valuable insight into the challenges Portuguese speakers face when learning English.
