My lessons will focus on any of the students‘ weaknesses and uncertainties. This will require prior contact to inform me of what you would like me to cover in a lesson. I believe that the best way to learn is to put your knowledge to the test, therefore my lessons will have a structure that aims to build the student‘s skills to successively answer high-end questions. This will simply be by first providing an explanation and directions for the current topic, then utilising your understanding in exam-style questions. However, you may not always find the correct answer. In such a scenario I will not give the solution immediately; it is far more effective to ask you questions that guide you through the problem. This style of teaching aims to influence more critical and logic-based thinking, and is the approach I was taught (and carried out myself) to achieve the best grades.
I have had some experience in face-to-face tutoring with Year 8 students, and have recognised that a tutor‘s patience is a fundamental aspect for a worthwhile lesson. My lessons will run at the pace you need, but I may put you out of your comfort zone with challenging questions -- no exam will be easy!
If you are just starting your GCSEs, now may be the best time to begin working with a tutor. This will give you a great head start to propel your learning and ensure you remember as much content as you can from previous modules, as you move up the years.
