I have experience in education, dating back to when I myself was still at school, and a professional experience in teaching dating back to 2019. I am currently training to become a Physician Associate, I have a special interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (more specifically recurrent pregnancy loss). My undergraduate dissertation had an oncology (cancer) focus, whilst my (1st) master's dissertation was neuro-oncology and genetic knockouts.
I gauge prior understanding by doing a short test, as well as enquiring what is already known (specific areas of strengths/difficulties). I always check for understanding at the start, throughout, and at the end of each session (to identify any misunderstandings/misconceptions that need to be addressed). I understand that everyone differs in learning styles, so I would try to determine what that is, in order to maximise learning.
Although I didn't complete my PGCE, I have studied and have been passionate about Science for as long as I can remember. I was a Science Department TA whilst I was completing my GCSEs, and I also gained my level 1 in sports leadership. I later volunteered at an SEND school during my enrichment periods when I was completing my A-Levels. I was informally tutoring throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate degree, I did sign on with tutoring agencies when I began my PGCE and have since worked as a TA/Exam invigilator/Cover Supervisor/Supper Camp Lead/Tutor/SEND tutor.
