History lessons should be engaging and interactive, not centred around memorising dates and names !
I find elements of GCSE and A Level history that appeal to each individual, and to break down the initially daunting content into achievable goals.
I emphasise the use of sources, particularly those which shine light into typically unseen elements of society, in order to grasp the wider context of a period.
I am a qualified teacher with experience teaching KS3, KS4 (GCSE) and KS5 (A Level) as well as International Baccalaureate, with experience in all time periods.
I have taught both Edexel and AQA at GCSE and A Level, consistently achieving 7-9s at GCSE and A-A* at A Level. My experience at Cambridge University has provided me not only with a passion for academic rigour, but also with access to a wide variety of rarely seen sources which I would be delighted to share!
I am a warm, friendly individual who prioritises the students. I believe every individual learns differently and as such, learning should be guided by the student.
I have taught at Impington Village College and Samuel Ward Academy, as well as tutoring privately for students aiming for Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.
I also have experience with students of all different needs, including ASD and ADHD, and am passionate about modifying work to make it accessible whilst striving for the highest possible standard. I appreciate that history is a heavily essay-based subject, and have found I am able to make this accessible and manageable without reducing the quality of students’ outcome.
