I am a qualified primary teacher with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education and QTS, with extensive experience teaching and supporting children aged 2–11. I have taught across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including as a Year 1 class teacher, as well as working as a private tutor and nanny. This has given me a strong understanding of how children learn at different ages and the importance of adapting teaching to each individual child.
My teaching approach is child-centred, engaging and personalised. I take time to understand each child’s strengths, interests and areas for development before tailoring lessons to their needs. I use a mixture of questioning, discussion, modelling, guided practice and independent activities to help children develop both their knowledge and confidence.
For online teaching, I make lessons particularly interactive and visually engaging. I use clear explanations, questioning and regular opportunities for children to participate rather than simply listening. I incorporate games, stories, images, phonics activities, problem-solving and creative tasks where appropriate, while adapting the pace of the lesson according to the child’s responses.
I have particular experience supporting phonics, early reading, writing, mathematics and primary school preparation, including helping children develop foundational skills and preparing Year 6 pupils for 11+ assessments. I use assessment throughout lessons to identify misconceptions and adjust my teaching in real time.
I believe that children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged and genuinely involved in their learning. I therefore aim to create a positive online environment where children feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes and challenge themselves. My goal is not only to improve academic attainment, but also to help children become more confident, independent and enthusiastic learners.
