Hi there! I’m Rory Drinnan, a Music Producer, Bassist, and Mentor based in East London, passionate about helping musicians of all ages express themselves through music. I provide personalised lessons for beginners to intermediate players, guiding them to build confidence, develop skills, and create or perform music they’re proud of.
My teaching is practical, hands-on, and student-focused. I combine technique, theory, and creative exercises in a way that connects what you play with real musical understanding. When we work together, you’ll learn to:
- Use melody, rhythm, and dynamics to craft your own bass lines
- Apply theory in a way that feels natural and musical
- Play bass in the context of real tracks, not just exercises
Music is at the heart of everything I do, and I love sharing that excitement with my students. I encourage creative expression while providing a framework for growth, making sure every student progresses with confidence, skill, and a deeper love for music. I offer lessons both in-person and online, and I welcome all styles, levels, and musical ambitions.
I teach in the following areas:
- Bass Guitar
- Music Theory
- Songwriting & Composition
- Music Production & Mixing
- Beat Making
About Me //
With over 10 years of experience, I’ve performed and produced across genres including electronic, hip-hop, RnB, and jazz. As a bassist and producer, I’ve collaborated with James Dring (Gorillaz, Blur, Lana Del Rey), Bobby Goulder (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), Liam Toon (Miles Kane, Slowthai), Lewis Moody (Nubiyan Twist, Energy Exchange Records), and Nathan Challinor (Baby Queen, Milo Clare).
I’ve also performed in theatre productions and toured across the UK and Europe. These experiences have shaped my musical range and understanding of professionalism, adaptability, and creative collaboration, allowing me to teach in a way that’s informed by real-world experience. My goal is to foster both technical skill and artistic confidence in my students.
I’m also a Senior Music Mentor with Key Changes, a London-based music mental health charity, where I’ve spent the past five years helping emerging artists develop songwriting, production, and performance skills.
