I am experienced in GCSE, and A-Level maths/Further maths, alongside a deep knowledge of Oxbridge interviews and admissions tests (including STEP).

I am looking to share my love and passion for maths with young students, who were once in my position. It’d be fantastic to bring on a student to achieve top grades, and be offered a place at their dream university.

I have experience as a volunteer in small group tuition for GCSE students, but, as I leave school, I wish to expand and take on some students 1-to-1. To me, tutoring is an incredibly rewarding experience, as I hope it is for the student!

In a typical session, I will build upon the students understanding of a topic, by showing them a problem to work through- when they become stuck, I will ask them a question, that should guide them towards a solution. By asking questions, rather than the other way around, ideas are produced by the student, making teaching a solution more rewarding for them, both emotionally, and in problem solving ability. With sufficient practice, the student will not only become a proficient mathematician, but an independent learner, they will also hopefully develop a love for mathematics (or progress this further!)

I not only have experience as a tutor, but I have also been a mentee! The practices that I choose to use have worked for me, and ended with me being offered a place to read mathematics at St John’s College, University of Cambridge. This experience also provides empathy to the student, I have been in their position before!
