My approach as a tutor is to be receptive, and adapt to the needs of each specific student; through this, I aim to deliver material in the most accessible and understandable format for each student, make material engaging, and provide a secure environment in which students feel comfortable to make mistakes and be curious.
I try to challenge all of my students to think critically about their learning, so that when they face exams, they feel confident in their learning and have an in-depth knowledge of the content. I believe this starts with a thorough understanding of core principles and basics, and I encourage students to use these to approach increasingly difficult topics.
Finally, I believe in being patient and kind to students. To me, this means spending as long as necessary on something a student doesn't understand, putting in time between sessions to develop new content that they'll find enjoyable or easier to grasp, encouraging mistakes and questions, and helping students develop a love of learning. I personally understand how much more enjoyable school can become when you feel you have control of your learning, and I hope to deliver this impact to my students' lives.
