I am a Computer Science lecturer with a PhD in Computer Science and several years of teaching experience in higher education. I currently teach undergraduate Computing students and have also taught at the University of Bradford.
My teaching areas include Computer Science, databases, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, networking, web development and programming fundamentals. I can support GCSE, A level, college and university students, as well as beginners who are new to computing.
I like to keep my lessons simple, clear and practical. I usually start by checking what the student already understands and what they are finding difficult. I then explain the topic step by step using easy examples, diagrams and real life situations. For technical subjects, I try to relate concepts to everyday examples so that students can understand the idea before moving on to more complex work.
My lessons can include explanations, worked examples, practice questions, revision, assignment guidance and support with understanding technical concepts. I can also help students prepare for exams, improve their confidence and organise their study.
I am patient and happy to explain the same topic in different ways until the student feels comfortable with it. I do not expect students to already be confident in programming or technical subjects. My aim is to create a relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
I can adapt each lesson to the student’s level, pace and goals. Whether a student needs help with a particular topic, regular weekly support, exam preparation or university-level Computing, I will plan the lesson around what they need most.
Most importantly, I want students to understand what they are learning rather than simply memorising answers. My goal is to help them become more confident and independent in Computer Science.
