What to Expect from Lessons

My drum lessons are dynamic, personalised, and rooted in over a decade of experience as both an educator and professional performer. Whether you're completely new to drumming or looking to refine your skills for live gigs, recording, or exams — I’ll tailor each lesson to suit your goals, learning style, and musical tastes.

Lesson Format

Lessons typically run for or 60 minutes, depending on your age, ability, and focus. I offer both in-person and online sessions, and all lessons include a blend of:

Hands-on playing time

Clear technical development (rudiments, stick control, independence)

Musical context (learning to play with feel, in styles like funk, rock, jazz, neo-soul, pop, etc.)

Play-along tracks and improvisation

Reading, theory, and ear training (where appropriate)

Goal-setting and feedback — so you always know what you're working toward

For those interested in graded exams, I offer structured pathways through the Rockschool (RSL) and Trinity syllabuses. My students regularly achieve high merit to distinction (86–98%), and I know how to make the process both enjoyable and effective.
