Teaching maths is about breaking the processes and methods in to small, easily-understood steps. It’s about practising these steps, which will consolidate understanding and as a result, confidence. It’s also about answering even the simplest of questions, the questions students daren’t ask in class. Each “ chunk” of an hour-long lesson may only last five minutes and will contain lots of verbal Q&A as well as written practice.
