My lessons will be tailored to your current level and learning style. We'll start by identifying what you're confident with and what you need a little more help with.

Lessons will cover everything from understanding language and structural devices to applying them effectively in your own writing and analysis. I'll prepare slides for each lesson, breaking down how to identify techniques, explain their effects and use them in your analysis to achieve the highest marks. Examples are really important in English, so I'll make sure each lesson includes plenty of them!

I'm more than happy to repeat explanations, take things at your pace and listen to your interpretations. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and sharing your ideas. Ultimately, your progress is a team effort, and we'll work together to help you reach your goals.

I'll also provide short homework tasks to reinforce what we've covered and help you keep building on your progress between lessons!

Having tutored students previously and helped them improve by up to two grades, I've learnt that consistent practice is one of the biggest factors in making progress. During my own GCSE preparation, I found that simply reading examples and learning techniques wasn't enough, actually practising them, applying feedback and learning from mistakes made the biggest difference.

I'll use PowerPoint presentations to break down key concepts, with plenty of examples and guided exercises. We'll also work through past paper questions regularly, helping you become familiar with exam expectations and apply your skills under timed conditions.
