Rhiannon Elizabeth Edwards

I graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA Hons in Modern Languages, and have been tutoring since 2018, working with students from primary level through to university.

I have extensive experience tutoring GCSE and A Level students across the humanities, including English, History, Spanish, French, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Geography and Sociology. I also offer university-level and language tuition. Alongside private tutoring, I have worked with Greene’s College for around five years, and during my time at Oxford I was selected as a Student Mentor, providing academic support to fellow students.

My tutoring style is highly personalised and intellectually engaging. I take time to understand how each student thinks and learns, identifying both areas of confidence and areas where they need greater support. Rather than relying solely on memorisation or exam technique, I encourage students to ask questions, make connections between ideas and develop their own arguments. Lessons are structured but conversational, creating an environment where students feel comfortable exploring difficult or unfamiliar material and changing their minds as they learn. I adapt my approach to each student, whether they need to build confidence and foundations, consolidate their knowledge, or be pushed towards more sophisticated and independent thinking.

I particularly enjoy working with ambitious students who want to go beyond simply achieving good grades. I aim to help students engage critically with their subjects, articulate sophisticated ideas, become confident in unfamiliar material and develop the independence of thought expected at university level. I would be particularly interested in supporting students aspiring to Oxbridge and other highly selective universities, drawing on my own experience of Oxford and my understanding of the academic skills required to succeed in that environment.
