My GCSE lessons are structured, interactive, and designed to build both confidence and mastery in the subject. Each lesson follows a clear format that helps students understand what they are learning and why it matters for their examinations.
Lessons typically begin with a short diagnostic starter activity (5–10 minutes). This reviews previous material and helps identify any areas that need reinforcement. I then introduce the core concept for the lesson, explaining it step by step using clear examples and visual explanations so that students understand both the method and the reasoning behind it.
The central part of the lesson focuses on guided practice. We work through exam-style questions together, with careful attention to the techniques required for GCSE success. I model how to approach problems, explain common mistakes, and show students how to structure answers in a way that examiners expect.
Students then complete independent practice tasks, where they apply what they have learned. During this stage I provide targeted support and feedback, ensuring misconceptions are corrected quickly. Lessons often include short retrieval quizzes or mini-assessments to strengthen memory and track progress.
My teaching approach emphasises clarity, encouragement, and exam readiness. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their confidence.
I have experience supporting students with a range of abilities and learning styles, and I focus on helping each learner make measurable progress. My goal is not only to improve grades but also to develop strong study habits and independent learning skills that will benefit students beyond their GCSEs.
