My passion has always been in English - from studying it academically, to then becoming a tutor and a teacher, and transferring that passion to my students. One of my proudest moments is always seeing my students begin to love the subject as much as I do! Over my total career of 8 years, 4 of which are as a qualified teacher in the classroom, I have gained a wide range of expertise over different English curriculums and exam boards, including GCSE AQA, Edexcel, and Scottish Highers. I have also worked with a wide range of students both in and out of the classroom, including SEND students, EAL students, and students pushing to grades 8 and 9s. Most notably, one EAL student that I worked with was able to secure grade 8s in both GCSE exams! I have a lot of success in helping students feel more comfortable and confident in the subject, thus enabling them to strive for their best.
My tutoring style takes a very person-centered approach: everything is bepoke to the student, and centered around their individual strengths and needs. Once I have established the student's current position, and where they are aiming to go, I can create a personalised plan to help support them. This will be shared and discussed with the student, and ammended as we see fit; I believe communication and collaboration is essential to success. Having worked with such a range of students, I am aware that not every approach fits every student, and so we will together to find the lessons and approaches that work the best.
