Rebecca Huxley

Hello, my name is Rebecca and I am happy to assist you with English or Psychology.
I am a qualified teacher, educated to PhD level in Linguistics and English Language and I have over ten years of experience tutoring/teaching in the private sector, at colleges, schools, community centres and universities.

I currently work as a lecturer of Research Methodology and English for Academic Purposes and I occasionally work as an examiner/assessor for Cambridge national GCSE and A Level English language, literature and general comprehension papers.

My lessons are online due to my disability which affects my mobility.

Before our first lesson, I will gather as much information as possible about your needs, your preferences, what you're studying and any specific texts/materials required for our future lessons together. My approach is flexible, I am happy to create a plan of what we will cover in future lessons or I can respond to your needs throughout the lessons.

My classroom is a safe space where learners can feel relaxed and comfortable enough to learn at their own pace and to be unafraid of making mistakes. While I hold expertise in the subjects I teach, I enjoy making learners laugh and feel relaxed by using personal anecdotes and by relating learning content to current popular culture, particularly when the material being taught is more challenging for the learner. I am well-known among my students for being able to explain and teach both complex concepts and skills in a more accessible, simplified manner. I also engage in concept-checking and revision of previous learning material to ensure consolidation of knowledge.

I keep a meticulous record of all my students and the content taught. I also work just two days per week at an international college, meaning that I have plenty of time to look over homework and provide comprehensive feedback for samples pieces of work produced.
