Rayan Kunnummal

My name’s Rayan, and I’m currently a 2nd year undergraduate medical student at the University of Sheffield. I am a highly experienced tutor, offering weekly 1 hour online tutoring sessions for GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Maths for any students at GCSE level. I have also had success tutoring students in A-level Biology/Chemistry, and also in UCAT and medicine admissions tutoring. I am very friendly and engaging as a tutor, with a 100% success rate of students I have previously tutored reaching their target grades, and I am keen to help students at any level to achieve their targets. My lessons are very much student led and are adapted to suit their learning best.

I have tutored GCSE students for the last three years privately, and A level students for the last year. Having gained hundreds of hours of experience as a tutor, I am comfortable working with many different students with different learning styles, adapting my teaching towards them. I work closely and effectively with students, identifying strengths and weaknesses within their knowledge, giving students a comprehensive understanding of subject content as well as exam technique and revision plans. I have consistently helped students achieve top grades, with all of my GCSE and A-level students achieving their target grades, many of which achieved 9s across their sciences and Mathematics. Having recently entered medical school and successfully passed my first year, I am very familiar with the admissions process, and achieved a high UCAT score and performed well during interviews which allowed me to receive offers from 100% of the 4 medical schools I applied to. I therefore am well versed to help share my knowledge on how I achieved all of my offers to any prospective medicine students.

I am proficient in explaining more complex concepts in simpler ways to give students that fundamental base knowledge upon which they can learn more. I am extremely thorough with my understanding and explanations, ensuring students are very well versed on their specification. One of my key strengths is the focus I have on exam technique, helping students apply their knowledge on questions similar to what they would find in an exam. I work very heavily with student feedback and integrating this into future lessons.

At GCSE, I achieved the grades 9, 9, and 8, and A* A A in A level at Biology, Chemistry and Maths respectively, achieving the highest in my school in Biology at GCSE. I thoroughly enjoyed these subjects at both levels, and thus am passionate about tutoring these subjects to other GCSE students and help them achieve as highly as possible. I currently also do teaching as part of GP placements within medical school, and was heavily involved with pastoral mentoring schemes at school as well.

I did both my GCSE’s and A levels under AQA for Biology and Chemistry, and Edexcel for Maths, and can take on any students following these exam boards.

I hope to connect with both students and parents and communicate my desire for the student to perform well and exceed their goals, which is always my primary motivation.
