Raquel Rodríguez Fernández

I have an MA in Linguistics and Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of León (Spain) and a PhD in Spanish from University of Galway. I have been teaching Spanish to students in Ireland and abroad for 7 years, including university level (UCD, NUI Galway), private language schools, and one-on-one private lessons. My teaching philosophy is making language learning fun and rewarding for my students so they can continue to improve while enjoying the process.

Tutoring experience:
I have helped students from all ages, backgrounds, and levels with their language needs, ranging from complete beginner to advanced or conversational levels. My focus is to go beyond specific exam preparation or basic stock-phrase learning to make my students familiar with language learning techniques, improved study skills, and tailored learning strategies.
Many of my students seek intensive Spanish lessons in preparation for bigger challenges, such as living and working in Spain. For this, they need more than a crash language course: they need to prepare themselves for a new lifestyle. In cases such as these, I also provide students with practical tips and cultural knowledge to equip them with the necessary tools to start their new life with confidence and enjoy the experience to the fullest.

Getting to know my students is crucial for me, as their interests, expectations, and previous experience with language learning will determine my approach to teaching and the learning strategy we will adopt.
