Hello everyone, my name is Raphael Corletta! I am very excited to teach English as a foreign language. I received my certificate to teach English as foreign language from the International TEFL Academy. I have extensive experience teaching both English as a foreign language as well as other subjects such as history. In teaching English I advocate for a Student-centered classroom in which students are encouraged to actively participate in the learning process and to take responsibility for their own learning. This is a place in which students are intrinsically motivated and want to study, not because they are told to do so, but because they understand the purpose of each activity and the benefits of it. In a student-centered class, I would be responsible for a good deal of preparation, with students undertaking structured activities for pair and group work utilizing realia such as flash cards that bring the class to life relating classroom teaching to the real world. I think teaching in this type of classroom would actually be easier than in a traditional teacher-centered class, especially because I would be able to deal with students who have a hard time paying attention to lectures through giving them group activities and giving them a chance to work with their peers, and providing them with worksheets, thus presenting them with new language and reviewed covered material. I strongly believe it is of the utmost importance for teachers to prepare for each lesson and lecture, not only in a student-based classroom, but in all classrooms.
