The way I would conduct my lessons is by using a mix of the exam board specification to allow the student to exactly know what they need to learn for their exam, in order to avoid them from learning unnecessary things and stick to the point. As well as, once a topic is taught I would make the student practice exam questions in order to understand how they should apply they knowledge in exam conditions, ultimately improving their exam technique and give them an idea on how they should write they answers in order to obtain the maximum amount of marks. If a student wants to learn a topic from scratch I would use a textbook in order to give a proper introduction of the topic to the student as well as some YouTube videos where the student can gain an overview and insight into the new content.
I am very open for my students to ask questions as I believe that is the best way to learn by staying curious and looking ahead of the game.
When exam season comes by, I am open to go over exam papers under timed conditions with the student, as this will allow the student to have better knowledge on how they should use their time during an exam.
Ultimately, whatever the students requests I am very happy to go over whether it is going over exam question of even re-teaching a topic.
I think that in order to achieve those high grades, students will need lot's of practice and determination.
