The first lesson (will be free) will be a basic test so I can gauge your basic skill level subject wise and develop a scheme that would suit you depending on the way you learn. (verbal, pictural, etc.) You can also try a learning method test and let me know which type you are so I can create my lessons accordingly. My general teaching will be going through typical exam Qs step by step, as well as helping you annotate the novels you study.
For my English literature content we did the novels : Leave Taking, Macbeth, Frankenstein. I also teach poetry but I would recommend you focus on novels as the poems are very memory based.
I have had several different teachers over the course of the past 5 years, and out of all of them I would recommend (for English literature) that we start with the themes of the novels and annotate them, and then annotate specific key scenes/chapters. For English language, the focus would be on annotating language and structure for an effect and pointing out ways author use certain terminologies. I will also give advice for story/article writing and give you examples that gave me grade 9s.
For history, I would recommend that instead of going through the content which is memory based, we go through the exam technique as that is the hardest part of the exam, but if there are any specific topics you struggle with I am happy to help!
