I have taught English as a foreign language to people of many different backgrounds, ages and levels. I've taught it in secondary schools, sixth forms and to adults. This range of experience has perfected my ability to tailor lessons to students' needs, and to make content engaging.
I learned a foreign language (French) at Oxford University, so also have experience of being a learner. From this I've learned the challenges involved in language learning and how to overcome them together. In other words, I have learned first hand what works and doesn't work when it comes to learning a foreign language!
I have an A* in English A level and have also tutored individuals for English literature and language exams. As well as this, I achieved 10 A*s at GCSE which is testament to my hard-working nature across the board.
I know it can be hard to stay focused for a whole lesson, so in my classes I use a variety of videos and songs to vary the tasks and keep students engaged. I put equal focus on all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. In my classes, we practise all of these so you feel confident in any context. I tutor online, and believe this type of lessons can be just as fun as in-person lessons, with the right techniques and teaching style.
I am patient and encouraging, and show students they shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes -- actually, making mistakes is how you learn and progress!
