My lessons are structured, focused and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I start by identifying any gaps in understanding, then build knowledge step by step through clear explanations, carefully selected examples and guided practice. We then move into exam-style questions so students can apply their learning with confidence and accuracy.
Alongside being Head of Mathematics, I am also a mathematics textbook author and an exam board writer and assessor, which gives me a strong insight into what examiners are looking for and how students can maximise their marks.
I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, problem-solving and developing deep understanding rather than surface learning. My lessons are interactive, supportive and always include regular feedback.
Just as importantly, I believe in building strong rapport with my students. I enjoy getting to know them, understanding how they learn best, and acting as a positive role model—helping them see what they are capable of achieving both in maths and beyond.
