I am an experienced Geography teacher of over 17 years, teaching both GCSE and A-Level. I studied Geography at Kings College London before completing my PGCE at the University of Birmingham. I currently teach AQA for both GCSE and A-Lecel but also have experience with OCR and Edexcel. I have been an A-Level subject examiner for AQA A-Level and stay up to date with post-examination feedback and training every year.
I am passionate about my subject, and am flexible when it comes to how I teach; taking into account the needs of my students as I get to know them and adapting my lessons as necessary. Exam technique is taught through a range of different methods, but is embedded throughout every lesson so that my students know how to apply this in different contexts. I love teaching case studies and try to make them as up to date and relevant as possible, often drawing on current events and news stories from around the world. I enjoy teaching both Physical and Human Geography.
Skills and fieldwork are a vital aspect of the subject that is often overlooked or rushed through. I ensure that these are written into my lessons at regular intervals, again in context with the topics that are being taught. I can support pupils with fieldwork, including NEA and pre-release preparation.
Revision and retrieval practice are key elements when it comes to achieving success in Geography and I have a range of different tools and techniques to refer to as required.
