I think the best way to teach is through answering as many problems as possible. Going through past questions systematically to cover as much of the syllabus as possible, focusing not on theoretical knowledge, but practical confidence at responding to questions systematically. This is important in my career as a medical student, as having the theoretical knowledge of a condition doesn't immediately mean every patient you meet will fit in the perfect textbook presentation. Of course I am adaptable to what the young people I tutor respond to and enjoy the most.
This is my first time tutoring, but I have plenty of previous experience working with children from different backgrounds through my previous experience sports coaching. I have worked with children and young adults of a wide variety of ages and ability.
I'm quite an informal tutor, as I believe most young people respond better to someone who they can relate to rather than someone who they perceive as an authority figure. I think this has helped me in the past to get through to more young people who are in situations they don't appreciate at the time
