Empathetic tutor for those who feel lost, who want to ask questions but are too anxious - I've been there myself. I was out of education for a long time before I built up the confidence to pursue a career in biology.

I have an HND in Applied Biology from Belfast Met and a BSc in Biological Sciences with Professional Studies from Queen's University Belfast. My main focus is cell biology, bioinformatics, and genetics. I did my university placement year with the QUB Johnston Cancer Research Centre where I assisted other students and worked on breast cancer research. My final year research project was investigating kidney cancer drug resistance. During this time I was also a tutorial assistant for Master's students in the 'Systems Medicine' module of the Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics course - a course I'm now studying myself!

I'm patient and easy to talk to. Each session will start with a short discussion to see where you're confident and where you feel stuck. We can then work through topics step-by-step using methods that you find the most useful (or we can find what works for you, if you don't know yet!) I can provide recaps of the session to help you remember what we covered. Lessons are fully online through Microsoft Teams, or whichever platform is handiest for you.

Whether you're preparing for your GCSEs, A-Levels, or returning to study as an adult learner, I can adapt the pace and depth of study to match your goals. I enjoy explaining things and helping people understand biological concepts - but my focus is always on helping you to feel confident and supported in your learning.
