Qingyang Chen

I’m Qingyang (QY), an artist-photographer based in London and a graduate of the MA Fine Art Photography programme at UAL (LCC). Over the past few years, I’ve supported a number of students who went on to study Photography at RCA and UAL, helping them strengthen their portfolios and creative confidence.

In my lessons, I focus on both the conceptual and visual aspects of image-making — from developing project ideas to editing and presentation. Each session is tailored to the student’s interests and pace. Rather than following a fixed structure, I prefer to build an open conversation, helping you find your own visual language and artistic rhythm.

As a bilingual tutor (English & Chinese), I understand the challenges of expressing creative ideas across languages and cultures, and I try to create a calm and supportive space for reflection. My approach combines patience, sensitivity, and professional experience from working with independent fashion and design brands, so students can connect artistic thinking with real-world practice.

I work with art school applicants, young photographers, and creative practitioners who want to grow in both confidence and clarity. Whether you’re preparing a portfolio or developing a personal project, I hope our sessions can be a space to think, make, and grow together. ??
