I tailor my lessons to each student’s individual level, goals, and learning style. My teaching combines essential foundations such as technique, scales, sight-reading, and music theory with developing musical expression, interpretation, and a deeper understanding of the music being played.
While exam preparation is an important part of a student’s progress and provides recognition of their achievements, I believe that enjoying the process of making music and building confidence at the piano are equally important.
I taught three young kids from the same household around 10 years ago. Over the course of their learning, they became increasingly engaged and confident in their playing. In particular, the youngest student developed greater independence and motivation, taking more initiative to practise between lessons.
