My lessons are structured, engaging and tailored to each student's individual needs and goals. I begin by assessing a student's current understanding and identifying any gaps in knowledge. Each lesson follows a clear format: reviewing previous learning, introducing new concepts through worked examples, practising together and then applying skills independently through carefully selected questions.
I use a firm but fair approach and maintain high expectations, while creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I actively promote a positive culture of error, helping students understand that mistakes are a valuable part of learning and improvement. This helps build resilience and confidence, particularly for students who may struggle with Maths anxiety.
My lessons focus not only on obtaining the correct answer but also on developing a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies. I regularly use retrieval practice and exam-style questions to strengthen long-term retention and prepare students for assessments.
I have completed my PGCE with QTS and have experience teaching KS3 and KS4 Mathematics in secondary schools, as well as supporting students as a Maths tutor and Learning Support Assistant. This experience allows me to adapt my teaching effectively to students of different abilities, including those requiring additional support and those aiming for top grades.
My goal is for every student to leave lessons feeling more confident, motivated and capable in Mathematics, while developing the skills and mindset needed for long-term success.
