Philip Hateley

I can help with all facets of musical education and can teach all ages and all abilities, I can teach absolute beginners to those just looking to top up knowledge at any level. Whether you are preparing for exams or just interested in learning I can support you. I am a classically trained flautist, and can play piano and guitar. My teaching career includes four years at Keele University, preparing and delivering lectures to both under and postgraduates, including music theory, performance practice, popular music and jazz. I have spent time as a supply teacher in and around Staffordshire teaching all subjects including music at a number of secondary schools, including teaching A-Level and BTEC Music at Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College. I have also spent 20 years working in the music industry and can therefore teach anyone wishing to pursue a career in the music business. I was musical director of both the Ealing Amateur Dramatic and the Beaconsfield Operatic Societies staging many musicals. At University I specialised in composition and conducting, with particular highlights including conducting Mozart's 'The Magic Flute', the UK Premier of Philip Glass's opera 'Satyagraha' and Mahler's Symphony No.2 with the Bath Philharmonic.
