I am an experienced teacher of English language and literature from ages 11 to university undergraduate level. I also teach Media Studies GCSE and Film Studies A-level, and feel very strongly that as the medium of film is the modern version of storytelling, the overlap with the study of literature is vital in understanding how meaning is created.

Encouraging students to develop their writing styles and grow confidence in exploring their own critical interpretations of texts is at the heart of me pedagogical ethos, so my lessons typically include some explicit teaching, modelling and exemplars, shared practice, and then independent practice with guided feedback on how to improve.
It is important to me that my students develop an interest in their studies, so I will tailor activities to match their interests and abilities, ensuring all the time that progress is moving towards the desired outcomes, whether that is for an individual assignment, examination, presentation or simply as a means of developing more effective communication in order to achieve wider success.
