Patrizia Piccardo

I am a bilingual English/Italian speaker with 27 years of experience teaching GCSE and A level English Language and Literature in English schools. My experience and success rate is second to none.
I passed a PGCE course (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) at the Institute of Education (London University) and I hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) since 1998.

I have taught over 4000 students and developed hundreds of units of work and resources.
I have been KS5 Lead for both English Language and Literature, matching lessons to assessment objectives and guiding the whole department towards better examination results.

I have taught all examining boards, been an AQA examiner for GCSE English Language (paper 2) and AQA A level English Literature (specification A).
I worked for the GUTP (Grand Union Training Partnership) as a mentor to trainee teachers and coached NQTs (Newly Qualified Teachers).
I completed the Outstanding Teacher Programme Plus, using and evaluating a variety of teaching approaches, to find out how to establish what works best for each individual student.
I have also completed the Cambridge University mental health course (5 weeks), because as an experienced teacher I know that approaching students in the right way is as key as subject knowledge.

I have learnt to make my lessons engaging and interactive, with a focus on individual needs and learning goals.
My methods are adaptive and geared at achieving measurable progress.
They include project-based learning, the Community of Enquiry and a structure to lessons that prioritises cohesive and clear progression, with shared objectives and steps to actively learn and enjoy the process.

I chose early retirement but I miss using my skills and seeing students thrive.
