My classes would begin and end with the chosen text of the student. learning English can be a slow thing if the chosen subject is not understood from the start. being young myself I'd try to place myself within the student's shoes, and try to understand exactly where it is they are finding bother. By the end of a lesson the student should not only have a comprehensive knowledge of their chosen text but a greater understanding of essay writing and general literacy which will benefit them in almost any classroom or exam hall they walk in to
