As a passionate educator with 10 years experience teaching basic science and chemistry at grade level 8,I’m dedicated to creating a dynamic classroom where every student feels supported and empowered to reach their full potential. My teaching philosophy centers around inquiry-based leaning, incorporating hands-on activities and collaborative projects to foster critical thinking and deep understanding. In my previous role at Christ the redeemer nursery and primary school, I successfully implemented play-away method whereby learners were taken into a vehicle to learn part of the car and their usefulness which resulted into a significant improvement in student achievement which is 80% and above, demonstrating my commitment to data-driven instruction and continuous improvement in my teaching and effective learning on the part of the learners. A great teacher is like a great artist who uses basic tools to transform raw materials into valuable assets of society. However, great artist may not have the best tools or best skills- they are recognized because of their passion and their unique perspective of the world. Great teacher are not just ones who transmit information, teach skills, and help students earn the best grades but they are those who share their passion for knowledge and curiosity with their learners, inspire the learners’ creativity, develop their thinking ability, and prepare them for the complex world they will face after stepping out of school. Teaching is a part of process in discovery and it also provides and opportunity to learn, enthusiasm and creativity ideas and shared by students with their teachers. Reflecting on my own experience as learner then, I was truly inspired by the good role-model of my mentors and hope to relay this process to the younger generation and to influence their lives through my teaching and advising. My undergraduate major is in chemistry Education, which provides me fundamental pedagogical principles to engage and guide my future teaching practice. For classroom teaching, my goals are not only to give clear and insightful teaching, but also to motivate learners enthusiasm and encourage discussion and interaction in the teaching. This provides learners the skills in communication, critical thinking and problem - solving which are necessary training to pursue future professional careers. For mentoring student research, my goals is to guide them in research lab and motivate the learners to give their best efforts. As learners come in with different background and interests, I will provide them with the freedom to explore and to think about problems in new ways. In the mean-time, I will also actively engage in their project and guide learners’ discoveries. The value of research advising is so rewarding because we continue generating new ideas during the discovery process and push forward the research. In my current role as a chemistry and basic science teacher at police secondary school,Nigeria, I have successfully designed and implemented a comprehensive curriculum that meet state standards and encourages learners engagement. My responsibilities include lesson planing, learners assessment, and providing individualized support. Notably I led a project-based learning initiative that increased learner participation and improved overall academic performance by 20%. I am able to manage challenging behavior effectively, conduct activities safely and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, I am very creative and enjoying sourcing materials that make learning interesting. Most importantly, my ability to work well with others i.e teamwork, motivate and inspire is a very significant contribution that I am confident I can bring to the course and into the classroom. Certification, I have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS in UK),Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN Certificate and license in Nigeria), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC Certificate), Bachelor Science in Chemistry Education (BSc.Ed Chemistry Certificate),Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE Certificate),Primary School Leaving Certificate.
