Every person learns differently, so I don't have a set structure I use in every session. I learn what my pupils enjoy doing and tailor their learning to that. I particularly enjoy helping children with maths, it often feels like solving a puzzle and I love helping pupils get the 'wow' moment when they find the answer, especially since it is something that lots of people find tricky. When working 1-1/in small groups it is really important that pupils feel happy and comfortable in their learning, and so I like to make sure that sessions are something fun which children can look forward to and enjoy while feeling that they are making improvements and learning. I give lots of praise in all elements of my teaching, as this helps to promote positive outcomes and make pupils feel that they have made progress, celebrating their achievements and feeling inspired to keep pursuing them.
I am a qualified primary school teacher, I studied music at university and have A levels in Music, Maths and Religious Studies. I also do individual instrumental teaching, for which I have had really positive reviews; I am very flexible with my approach to teaching in these scenarios, getting to know the pupils well so that I am able to provide them with the best learning environment possible. I have a lot of experience of working with and adapting for SEND children, and really enjoy getting to know what works for them in terms of their learning, as I do with all pupils.
