I have in classroom experience of group and one-to-one tutoring at a variety of levels from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4. This in particular has been focused on English Language and Literature GCSE, as well as Grammar skills for Year 6 SATs.
My lessons aim to have a key focus on parts of the specification or exam content, this means that we will be looking at the minutiae to ensure that students can process and understand the information. Then in the following lessons, we will have a new focus but ensure that we retain the previous content learned through quiz style and application questions. If you are looking for specific exam support then I will aim to help craft checklists of what to include in extended writing, as well as essay structure that will allow you to convey your arguments in a focused and clear manner.
The basics and core architecture of language is often forgotten, which can create barriers for our communication of language. Together we can turn that 500 word essay or practise paragraph into something more manageable, consumable and engaging. Using methods doesn’t have to be dry or boring, instead we will learn to apply these to enhance our writing for the desired purpose and no longer loose ourselves to clunky sentences or big, misinterpreted words.
Following our sessions together, the desired outcome is that we will have followed the learn, process, understand, apply and retain scheme so that you will become the teacher and no longer the student. Building confidence with communication is key and that is what I hope to help you with!
