My lessons are built around making sure you actually understand the material, not just memorise it for the next test. I usually start each session by checking in on what's been covered recently in class and where things are feeling shaky, so we can spend our time where it actually matters rather than going over things you've already nailed. For Maths and Physics specifically, I focus heavily on working through problems together rather than me talking at you. I'll walk through the logic behind a method first, then we'll tackle questions side by side, with me stepping back more as you get comfortable. Past exam papers are a big part of this, since GCSE questions follow recognisable patterns once you've seen enough of them, and building that familiarity makes a real difference under time pressure. I keep sessions interactive and adjust pace depending on how a topic is landing. If something clicks quickly, we move on; if it doesn't, we slow down and approach it from a different angle rather than just repeating the same explanation. I also like setting a small amount of focused practice between sessions so progress compounds rather than resetting each week. Having just gone through the IB Diploma myself, I understand the pressure of juggling multiple subjects and the importance of efficient revision over just putting in hours. My own results, including Gold in the Senior British Mathematical Olympiad, came from this exact approach: build the fundamentals properly, then practice with purpose. I want every session to leave you more confident than when it started.
