First Lesson (Free / £5 Introductory Session) The first session is designed to understand the student’s current level and learning needs. We’ll start with a short discussion about which topics they feel confident with and which areas they find challenging. I’ll then use targeted questions and selected GCSE past paper questions to assess understanding, identify gaps in knowledge, and highlight strengths. This allows me to create a clear plan for future lessons that is tailored to the student’s exam board and individual goals.
General Lessons Ongoing lessons are one-to-one and focused on improving weaker topics in a structured and supportive way. Topics are broken down step-by-step and explained using different methods to suit the student’s learning style, including examples, diagrams, and practical tasks where appropriate. Each lesson finishes with GCSE-style and past paper questions to apply what has been learned, helping to reinforce understanding and track progress over time.
Run-Up to Exams As exams approach, lessons shift to a more exam-focused approach. We review the subject as a whole while concentrating on weaker topics that have not yet fully improved in previous sessions. A strong emphasis is placed on working through past papers, understanding mark schemes, and developing effective exam technique, including how to approach questions, manage time, and avoid common mistakes. The aim is to build confidence and ensure the student is fully prepared for their exams.
Lessons are friendly, structured, and adapted to the student’s exam board and individual needs.
Homework, coursework and programming support is also included.
