My lessons are calm, warm and carefully adapted to each child. I usually begin by getting to know the child’s interests, confidence level and current stage of development, so that the sessions feel safe, positive and engaging from the start.

For younger children, my lessons are play-based and practical rather than worksheet-heavy. I use stories, games, songs, objects, movement, drawing, mark-making and hands-on activities to support early learning. Depending on the child’s needs, sessions may focus on Reception readiness, phonics, early reading, early maths, communication, confidence, listening skills or SEND-friendly learning.

I keep sessions structured but flexible. This means children have a clear routine, but I can adapt quickly if they need a break, extra support, a different approach or a more playful way into the learning. My aim is to help children feel successful while gently building their skills and knowledge over time.

I also believe that good communication with parents is important. I am happy to discuss what a child is finding easy, what they are finding difficult, and what could be practised in simple ways at home. I try to make my feedback clear and practical, so that parents understand how their child is progressing and how best to support them between sessions.

I am a qualified teacher with an MA in Education and 15 years’ experience in education, including leadership experience as a phase leader. I have strong experience supporting children with SEND, EAL and emotional regulation needs, and I always aim to make learning feel positive, achievable and meaningful.
