My teaching is underpinned by the concept of students as partners, which ensure adequate collaboration with students towards enhancing their learning experiences. As part of my strategy to ensure students play a great role as co-producers of knowledge, I introduce strategies such as Think-Pair-Share, concept mapping and subject-based enquiry, which ensure widening participation and adequate understanding of my teaching. My teachings and learning strategy have also been designed to provide students with hands-on approach to subjects. I have used workshops and project-based learning that helps students develop critical thinking, problem solving skills, team-working and collaboration skills among others. I also enjoy excellent working relationship with most of my students, which has made our discussions sometimes go beyond classroom topics to career advice. Many of my students come to me for career advice, which I gladly give and in many cases refer them to professional services. Although I closely monitor the performance of all by students, I devote additional attention to students having challenges catching up. This I do by spending more time to discuss their work, and i also adopt peer-to-peer learning, by encouraging them to discuss their work with their colleagues who may understand the topic more than them.
